As we celebrate our Year 12 graduates, we pause to consider the journey ahead and the foundation they’ve built here at LORDS. In Micah 6:8, we find a simple yet profound guide for their lives: “And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” These words remind us that while knowledge and skills matter, it is our character, compassion, humility and whose we are that define our paths.

Our graduates have grown in wisdom, built lasting friendships, and embraced challenges. We encourage them to carry these values forward—seeking justice, showing kindness, and remaining humble. God will walk with them, guiding them through every step and every season. They are loved, they are gifted, and they are ready to make a difference in the world.

Loving God, we thank You for our Year 12 graduates. Bless them as they step into new chapters, carrying the values they’ve learned here. May they walk humbly with You, seek justice in all they do, and share kindness freely. Guide them to live with purpose, courage, and compassion. Strengthen them in times of challenge and remind them that they are always part of the LORDS community. Amen.

LORDS Foundation Students (Prep- Year 12)

We honour and give thanks to the foundation students and their families who were among the first to trust LORDS with their children’s education and growth when we started in 2012. These families stepped forward with a courageous faith, placing their hopes in a new community that had yet to grow into what it is today. We give thanks for their trust, their vision, and their commitment.

To the foundation parents, thank you for believing in the promise of LORDS. Your faith has helped shape this community, and your courage has paved the way for future generations. To our foundation students, thank you for growing with us and setting a strong foundation for all who follow. May you always know how deeply you are appreciated, and may LORDS always be a place you can call home.

We give thanks to God for your presence in our school’s story, and we celebrate the legacy you have left behind.

A beautiful tradition is when our Year 12 students ring the bell as they finish their last assessment.

This ritual is more than just a celebratory moment; it symbolizes the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and growth. This tradition serves as a reminder of the study and required, stress involved, and the friendships forged along the way. It’s a celebration of resilience, determination, and the exciting future that lies ahead. More students will have the opportunity to ring the bell over the coming week.

Year 12 Final Assembly
On Thursday 14th November, Year 12 students will attend school in their full formal uniform including their Blazer. On this day Year 12 students are not permitted to drive to school and we expect that they will attend the Farewell Assembly with their Parents/Families. Please reserve seats here

• Arrive at the COLA by 8.00am, where there will be light refreshments available for Year 12 students and their families. This is an opportunity to take final photos together. We will have a professional photographer available.
• From 8.30am – 9.30am we will have our special Year 12 Farewell Assembly.
  
  At 9.45am Year 12 students will depart LORDS for the final time, with their families.

Congratulations to our latest TRADE graduates; Alex deH, Sonny M, Kayn J, Jayden T, Levi S, and Bailey M. These students completed a Certificate II in 2024 in their chosen field - plumbing, electrotechnology, and engineering pathways. They are now ready to embark on a school-based apprenticeship journey. Well done!

On Monday night, Hayden F, Hayley C, Sophie H, Jorja S, Ella S, Mayar S, Tahlia C, Haylee D, and Jacob T had the opportunity to attend the prestigious Strategix Graduation Ceremony where they were presented with their 'Certificate II and III in Health Support Services'.
This qualification provides many opportunities for students with a passion for health and human services and contributes toward their QCE.

What a great achievement! Congratulations!

Congratulations to Rico, Lily and Elizabeth, winners of the Year 8 Short Story Writing competition. Last term, the Year 8 English unit was, 'Yesterday, Tomorrow, A Journey through Time'. This involved a deep dive, into the genres of historical fiction and science fiction. All students entered their own story into a competition. Rico, Lily, and Elizabeth’s stories were selected by the judging panel, for their outstanding creativity and excellence in meeting the genre features. Awarded their certificates and prizes by Mr Maessen (HOD English), their stories are available to read and enjoy in a library display. Thank you budding authors, for sharing your talents!

Our Year 11 Camp was an opportunity for students to connect, learn about themselves, and consider who they want to be as our Year 12 leaders in 2025. From canoeing, archery, a campfire, and focus sessions, the students had a great time and were very reflective of how they could support each other through their final year.

The Year 11 and 10 Business students had the opportunity to participate in the Griffith Business Ambassadors Program, which provided them with a rich and engaging learning experience. Throughout the program, students attended a variety of informative workshops, each designed to expand their knowledge and understanding of key business concepts. These workshops included Careers in Commerce, Manipulation 101, Exploring Supply Chain Dynamics, and Unlocking Consumer Attention.

Overall, the program provided a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical insights that will benefit them in their future studies and careers.

Congratulations to our Year 12 Hospitality students on their outstanding parent/staff dinner. Their customer service was excellent, and the food was of a high-quality restaurant standard.

The flavours, diversity of food, and wonderful presentation were exceptional.

Thanks go to their teacher, Carla Armstrong for her commitment, passion, and mentoring, along with Riette Nel, Denise MacDonald, Anna Sadler, and Tracy Lee for their terrific support in the lead-up to the event and on the night. Well done to all involved.

Jake is one of our Year 9 students and he recently competed at the IDO World Tap Championship in Prague from 23rd to 27th October.
Jake's proud mum has shared the following report with us:

His results were:
3 x Top 20 (Solo, Junior Trio, Junior Formations)
1 x Top 30 (Adult group)

Jake's result for his solo (15-16 years)...16th in the world!!! He's still a 14yo and was the youngest competitor for his section.

Jake competed in a 13-16years Junior Trio, achieving 15th in the world.

Jake also completed Junior Formations for 13-16 years. 30+ amazing groups from around the world with some teams having 25+ dancers. Jake's small team of young dancers smashed it amongst much older competitors and placed 14th in the world.

Jake was also part of the Adult Group and placed 24th with a very difficult routine against international groups of adult professional dancers.

Jake represented his country with pride and worked very hard. It was an amazing experience for him competing on the world stage, and getting to meet other tap dancers from around the world.

Congratulations Jake! We are so very proud of you.

We are very proud of our Year 7 students who showcased their learning to our school community on Friday afternoon. Over the past semester, students have been learning about water poverty and water scarcity.

Following the design thinking process, students identified a problem involving water and created a product or service to solve their problem. Students were taught how to responsibly use Artificial Intelligence to bring their ideas to life and use it to market their product. Their creativity was outstanding. Well done Year 7 students.

From trending local restaurants to thriving tourist destinations, Qld hospitality and tourism are booming! The Gold Coast hosts numerous cultural and sporting events, such as the recent GC 500, all creating thousands of valuable job opportunities. Over the last 5 years, the GC tourism and hospitality industry has benefitted from increased international visitors largely due to airlines expanding the city's global reach.
To compliment LORDS outstanding Hospitality and Pathways program, Year 10 students spent time with local GC resident and business owner Mr. John Steele today, otherwise known as Sirmixalot.
Students heard about Mr. Steele's unique journey from high school, through university to the present, where he now operates his own thriving mixology business.

Starting high school is a big deal so at LORDS we ensure the Year 6 students feel confident, supported, and excited about the next step in their schooling journey.
Our 2025 Year 7 cohort enjoyed a very busy Transition Day in the Secondary School, with a focus on connecting and experiencing.
Here is a snapshot of the activities they enjoyed:

•   Created rainbows in the Science labs by mixing chemicals.
  
•   Constructed and decorated Christmas trees in the Design Workshop.
  
•   Worked as teams to play competitive games in the COLA.
  
•   Used their bodies to make everyday objects in the Drama space.
  
  They also spent time connecting with each other, the Year 7 teachers, and the Pastoral Care team for 2025 through games, quizzes, and a panel of special ‘Year 7 Experts’ from the 2024 Year 7 cohort. After a quick pizza lunch they headed off Bowling to show off their skills and firm up the new friendships made.

Congratulations to our Year 4-6 students on a wonderful Junior School LORDS Celebrates, held this week. It was terrific to celebrate the excellent achievements of our Year 4-6 students. Our musicians, award recipients, student presenters, and Year 6 students represented themselves and the LORDS Community with pride. We give thanks to God for the many ways he has blessed our school. Thanks to parents, staff, students, and community representatives for all your support. We are the Lord’s.

Our Prep students for 2025 had a wonderful orientation session last week having a fun teddy bears picnic together with DJ Laree from Karizmatik Entertainment.
Thanks to FOLS (Friend of LORDS) for running a terrific connection and afternoon tea session for parents and carers during this time.

Now that our Junior School Loose Play Parts area has been named ‘Imagination Station’, our students are working with artist Sarah Sculley to create a mural for the container. We can’t wait to see what it looks like!

Congratulations to the students involved in the APSMO Maths Olympiad and Maths Explorer Programs this year. These students participated in weekly sessions to develop their mathematical problem-solving skills over Term 2 and Term 3. They put their skills to the test in four contests over this time.

Evie T (Year 3) raised the most amount of money.
Sarah R (Year 3) skipped the most followed closely by Hudson B (Year 4).
All prizes will be handed out in the upcoming weeks when they arrive.

Congratulations to our Junior School students who performed at this years, Spring Soiree. It was a wonderful celebration of the arts and a terrific example of how the arts continue to grow and flourish at LORDS.

Established in 2024, the LORDS 7s are a dynamic new Rugby team committed to showcasing talent and sportsmanship. Comprised of a diverse group of passionate Year 10 athletes, the team has dedicated their time to training together to build strong camaraderie and refine their skills with the help of Coach De Goede.

With a mix of experienced players and fresh talent, the LORDS 7s are ready to make their debut at their first competition next Friday at the Moreton Bay East Emerging Secondary Schools Q7s. The students are keen to make a mark as the first LORDS Rugby 7s team, let’s go LORDS!

Our LORDS Rugby 7s team made history on Friday by being the first to compete in a tournament. It was a stunning day at the Moreton Bay Easy Emerging Schools Tournament, led by Coach Kevin De Goede, and supported by Kate Nankivell and Alesha Stagg.

We kicked off with a strong victory against Genesis Blue, winning 24-14, with our own Giovanni Echentille scoring the very first try for LORDS. This was followed by another win against Genesis Red, 26-12. While we faced an unfortunate forfeit from our third match, we advanced to the Grand Final. The match was fiercely competitive, with scores tied at halftime. In the end, we lost 14-17, but we left the field with our heads held high.
Our Player of the Tournament was Isaiah O who showcased unmatched speed, grit, and confidence throughout the day.

We couldn’t be prouder of these boys for their dedication, camaraderie, and passion. Each individual playing their role, contributing to a very successful day. The future looks bright for LORDS 7s.

Our Year 4 student, Olivia-Rose, is a very accomplished Irish Dancer.

Olivia-Rose recently competed at Premierships and placed:

• 4th in the 9 Years
• 2nd in the Years Reel
• 3rd in the Primary Jig

Futsal at LORDS has come to an end for the 2024 season.

It’s wonderful to see such strong participation and success in the LORDS Futsal program. A big thank you to all the parents for their unwavering support.

Having around 75 students each week, including over 20 girls, is impressive.

Competing in 5 competitions with over 40 teams participating at these tournaments, reaching 15 semi-finals, 7 grade finals, and winning 4 titles is a remarkable achievement.

The future looks bright with a specialist futsal coordinator joining the LORDS team in 2025.

We also have new competitions lined up for 2025 where students will be competing against teams from all over South East QLD on a regular basis.

Exciting times ahead for both primary and high school teams! Keep up the great work, and see you all in 2025!
