Sport @ LORDS

Since LORDS inception, sporting pursuits have played a fundamental role in developing well-rounded individuals.

LORDS provides opportunities for our students to engage in sport at all levels – from junior school interschool sports teams to regional and state championships through to our Senior Years.
We aim to develop life skills through sport, such as character development, resilience, perseverance, and self-discipline.

LORDS is developing a reputation for topping inter-school sports leagues and gaining notoriety in competing at district, state, and national levels.

From Year 3, LORDS students participate in our annual sports carnivals including Athletics, Swimming and Cross Country/Colour Fun Run.  From Year 4, our students compete in inter-school sport on a regular basis.  LORDS also run a range of free or low-cost sporting activities outside of school hours including running club, netball, futsal, touch football, and AFL Auskick.

Junior School Sport

From Prep to Year 3, students are taught basic swimming and water survival skills.  For 4 weeks in Term 4, students attend a local aquatic centre where they receive professional instruction in learning to swim, survival skills, and more.

From Years 4 through 6, students compete in our local NGCAS (Northern Gold Coast Association of Sport) inter-school sport.  Students compete in a variety of winter and summer sports including:

- Basketball

- Soccer

- Touch Football

- Bocce

- Softball

- Cricket

- Volleyball

- Tennis

- Netball

- AFL

In addition to these sports, students have the opportunity to represent LORDS at the annual swimming, athletics, and cross-country carnivals.

Secondary School

The Secondary School Sports program runs throughout the school year.  Intra-school carnivals are held for cross-country, athletics, and swimming.

A summer and winter season of inter-school sports competition through AGCC (Association of Gold Coast Colleges) gives students the opportunity to develop their team-playing skills further.  Students can choose from sports of:
- Basketball
- Oztag
- Touch Football
- Soccer
- Futsal
- Volleyball
- Netball
- AFL
- Tennis

Students can also choose from a range of recreational activities including:

House Sport & Challenges

All LORDS students are assigned to one of our three houses – Pimpama, Logan, and Albert.  Year 3 to 12 students compete inter-house in three major sports carnivals each year: swimming, cross country, and athletics.  Prep to Year 2 students enjoy their own mini-versions in running and athletics.

House challenges are also a regular fixture at LORDS, where students compete regularly in various competitions, including Thursday and Friday afternoon house games and the Amazing Race – LORDS House Cup.
