Performing Arts
We are so proud of our school choir. We hope you enjoy them singing our school song, We Are The Lord's.
Our Strings Ensemble regularly visits schools in SE QLD to perform and be apart of their celebrations. Their visit to Aspley Special School on 24th March, 2023 was so lovely. Please enjoy the video below. We are so proud of how far our strings students have progressed.
Music
Instrumental Program
Welcome to the LORDS Instrumental Music Program. The Instrumental Music Program is a co-curricular program for all students, external to the music curriculum delivered in the classroom. We believe that music enhances the process of learning. Therefore, all students are encouraged to explore and develop their musical ability through the various Instrumental Music opportunities.

Ensembles (Current)
Junior String Ensemble
This ensemble is open to any student who plays a string instrument; violin, viola, cello, or double bass. This is not a lesson but a chance to get together with other students to help develop performance pieces and develop ensemble skills.
Strings (Year 3 and Year 4)
The Year 3 and Year 4 String ensembles are free yearlong programs open to any student wishing to play violin, viola, or cello.
Band (Year 5 and Year 6)
The Year 5 and Year 6 bands are free yearlong programs that include brass, wind and percussion instruments. The bands are a supportive environment for young musicians to learn or further their ensemble skills and etiquette. Music is chosen from a wide range of styles and genres, including classical, jazz, contemporary pop, and movie greats.
Senior School Orchestra (Previously Senior String Ensemble)
With increased interest in playing music in the Senior School, we have expanded the Senior String Ensemble to include any and all instruments. This ensemble is open to any student who plays an instrument; strings, wind, brass, percussion, guitar, piano, drums, etc. This is an opportunity to bring together a range of instruments to play a range of music styles.

Middle School Choir
Open to all students from Year 7 – Year 9 wanting to sing and be part of a large choir to further develop their skills. Every second year this ensemble enters the Beenleigh Eisteddfod with great success, recently achieving first place in 2019.
Drama
LORDS students are given the opportunity to extend their talents by participating in eisteddfods, drama productions, talent quests, and theatre sports.
Secondary School Musical
The biannual school musical is a highly professional extravaganza involving actors, musicians, and singers across the secondary school. It takes place on the alternate year to the major drama production. In 2018, our whole school musical was Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , and 2 years later in 2020, COVID didn't stop us from performing our version of Pirates of Penzance - even if we had to compromise and stage it on film at our local drive-in so everyone could attend.

In 2022 we took the stage by storm with We Will Rock You!
Junior School Musical
Our Junior School also stages a biannual musical that is another wonderful production managed by our Arts Faculty. In 2021, we saw the young people of LORDS performing in Otto's Pizza Shop; an original musical with magical costumes and music. Previously in 2019, the students took to the stage in The River, another original musical about friendship and travel.
