DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
I was very privileged to have attended the Garma Festival in Northeast Arnhem Land a few weeks ago. This festival is a celebration of the Yolngu people and their culture. Garma means ‘two-way learning process’. It was a wonderful reminder for me about the importance of culture and how our First Nations people’s story is part of my story and in turn part of all our stories as Australians. Ultimately, we know that we are part of a bigger story again, and that is God’s story. His story for us is one of love. Sometimes it is hard to imagine that we are loved that much. God’s promise to us is real, no matter what is happening in our lives he is present- present through prayer, creation, and in and through others. That is something worth celebrating.
